On March 27, 2025 my father Carmelo Figueroa went peacefully to his eternal rest. He’d had a recurrence of cancer that he’d beat twice before and won a reprieve of many years til this last time. Here he is pictured enjoying his favorite past time, fishing.
He managed to squeeze out 96 years of life, which he got a kick out of people telling him how much younger he looked than his age. He was born Dec 30, 1928 in Puerto Rico, grew up in NYC and passed away in Florida. His wish was to be brought back home to New York to be buried with his mother Regalada Torres and to be near his family who are also nearby. A funeral mass for Carmelo was held held Friday, April 4, 2025 from 10:15 AM to 11:00 AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 215-35 38th Ave, Bayside, NY 11361. Following the funeral mass was the interment from 11:30 AM to 12:00 PM at Mount St. Mary Cemetery, 172-00 Booth Memorial Ave, Flushing, NY 11365.
