Born in Italy, Dora immigrated to the United States in the early 1960s alongside her husband and lifelong partner, Andrea Elio Micci. Together, they built a remarkable life rooted in love, family, hard work, and tradition. Married for 63 years, Dora and Elio worked side by side in several successful food businesses, sharing not only a strong work ethic but also a deep passion for bringing people together through food.
They made their home in Flushing, New York, where they lovingly raised their family and created a warm and welcoming household for more than 50 years. Dora’s kitchen was the heart of the home. Cooking for her family brought her immense joy, and her meals were expressions of love that will never be forgotten.
Dora also found great happiness in her garden. She was an avid gardener who especially loved growing fresh basil and Italian flat-leaf parsley — staples in the many cherished recipes she prepared for those she loved. Her backyard blossomed with beautiful azaleas and hydrangeas, leaving behind a living legacy of beauty, care, and devotion.
In her later years, Dora treasured life’s simple pleasures: tending to her garden, preparing meals for family gatherings, praying the rosary, and watching Sunday Mass from Rome on the Italian channel, often followed by her favorite Italian soap operas. She embraced each day with grace, faith, humor, and an enduring love for her family.
Dora is survived by her devoted children, Christina, Andrea, Maurissa, and Ettore; and by her cherished grandchildren, Loukas, Giulia, and Madison, all of whom brought immense pride and happiness to her life.
She will be remembered for her strength, warmth, unwavering faith, and boundless love for her family. Her legacy lives on in every shared meal, every blooming flower, every family tradition, and every memory made around her table.
We were privileged and blessed to have Dora with us for 96 wonderful years.
So, let us raise a glass of her beloved Lambrusco in her honor and say:
Salute, Mamma bella.
