

Dorothy Stukes Harley was the daughter of the late William and Clarissa Stukes. She was born on December 19, 1931 in Bamberg, S.C.. There she attended grade school and graduated fro High School. She moved to New York City in 1951, married the late Samuel Harley. Dorothy Stukes Harley worked for forty-two years and retired for the Hollow Metal Pension Fund.
"Dot" as she was affectionately called, confessed Christ at an early age and joined the Rome Baptist Church in South Carolina. After being in New York she joined the New Hope Baptist Church family of Corona, N.Y., around 1994. She was always faithful to God, the Church and to her Pastor, Rev. Robert R. Burkett. She has been a strong, diligently, and stern person to family and church members alike. Her footsteps will be missed in Flushing. You could see her going for her walking exercise on Kissena Blvd.. Now she will be walking around heaven all day.
Dot departed this life on June 23, 2011 in New York Hospital in Queens. She is preceded in death by her husband Samuel Harley, both of her parents, one brother, one sister-in-law, four aunts, three nephews and one great-nephew.
She leaves to cherish her memory: two brothers, William Stukes of Flushing,NY and Charles Stukes of Suffolk, Va; two sisters in Denmark, S.C.; one sister-in-law, Alfredia B. Stukes; one nephew, Lonnie Stukes all of New York. A "host" of great nephews, great nieces, cousins and friends and God Daughter Alize.
