I remember the first time I ever spoke with Eric. He called me on June 14, 2017, asking if someone from St. Andrew Avellino Parish would be able to bring him Holy Communion. Being a newly minted Eucharistic Minister, who had not brought Holy Communion to anyone's home before, instead of handing him off to another more experienced Eucharistic Minister, I said to him, "You know what, Eric, I'll take you on!" Oh boy, I'm so happy I did! Although I only knew Eric for a little over a year, I can honestly say just how much God had a hand in our friendship. From sharing many laughs, great conversations - which usually ended with the funny quip, "I gotta be me!", enjoying some meals, and attending Mass together, I came to see how truly remarkable of a human being he was and that we were meant to know each other! I am truly blessed to have known him, particularly in his final days. Though Eric has passed on from this life, he isn't truly gone, but is now in the eternal embrace of our loving, Heavenly Father, and will never be forgotten. Eric, there will never be another quite like you, and I am truly grateful, above all to God, that He brought you into my life, even though it was for a brief time. As Kermit the Frog [playing Bob Cratchit in "A Muppet Christmas Carol"] once said, "Life is made up of greetings and partings. That is the way of it." Though Eric has parted, the memory of him will never fade for those whom he has deeply touched. May you rest in peace, my dear friend, and may you continue to watch and comfort your family and friends as they grieve your loss.

I was very saddened to hear of Eric's passing.  My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends. I am sorry we lost touch for the last few years, the last time I saw Eric he came to the Pearl River Saint Patrick's day parade about ten years ago. It was nice to see him. There are so many memories from the past, besides walking to Flushing High School together, hanging out at the Dead End and the many camping trips to Indian Lake and Sundown.  Eric was a good friend.
 I remember 50 years ago or so Eric had a big white rabbit and he escaped from his cage across the street and ended up in my grandfathers garden, Grandpa was going to make a stew out of him until we talked him into returning the rabbit to Eric.
