Ernest Mancuso Jr., 89, died on August 23, 2026. Born on April 22, 1937, Ernest lived a life marked by steady devotion to family, faithful service, and a quiet appreciation for the simple joys that bring people together. An Army Veteran, he carried the dignity of that service throughout his years, with a grounded sense of duty and respect for others.
In his early years, Ernest worked in home improvement and was truly a master of many trades. Skilled with his hands and able to build, repair, and improve just about anything, he took great pride in his work and the knowledge he gained throughout the years. He later became a NYC Employee with the Department of Design and Construction, where he worked as a Construction Superintendent until his retirement.
Ernest was the beloved husband of the late Lucille, with whom he shared 61 years of love, devotion, family, and a lifetime of memories. In his later years, he shared a loving companionship with Antoinette (Toni), who brought comfort and happiness to his life.
He was a loving father of Ernest (Janice) Mancuso, Elizabeth Mancuso and her longtime companion, Anthony Nasso, and Nicole Mancuso (Michael Ferraro). He was a cherished grandfather of Nicholas (Jessica) Mancuso, Samantha (Rob) Boland, Joseph (Anastasia) Vaccaro, and Joanna DiMaggio, and a devoted great-grandfather of Robbie, Sydney, Julien, and Nikolaos Joseph. In every role, Ernest offered steadfast presence and enduring care—values that will be remembered with gratitude and honor.
Music was one of Ernest’s great pleasures. He loved music, singing, and dancing, and these were the moments when his warmth seemed to fill a room with ease. He also enjoyed playing cards, finding in those familiar games the comfort of friendship, conversation, and time well spent.
