Evrideke Panagopoulos

Evrideke (Eve) Panagopoulos, nee Hadzellis, was born and raised in Forest Hills, NY and lived most of her life in Jackson Heights, NY. She was a beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, and Nouna (godmother) as well as cherished friend and colleague. She was predeceased by her mother Maria (Condellis) Hadzellis, father George (Gregory) Hadzellis, and husband Stylianos Panagopoulos. She is survived by her son Gregory and his wife Zhibing, and her daughter Artemis Diane.

In addition to being a doting Mother to her children, she worked a few different jobs in her life: starting out as a secretary in the Manhattan advertising world of the 1950s, and retiring after 25 years as a New York City administrative assistant at LaGuardia Community College in Long Island City. In between she worked as a bookkeeper, supermarket cashier, attended school trips, and was an active member of the PTA. She ferried her kids to all of their sports activities, after-school library trips, and social gatherings.

Mom was a warm-hearted soul who loved her family, and made everyone feel like they were family. She could talk to anyone. And she went out of her way for everyone. She was giving and kind and exceedingly patient, sometimes to a fault, which is what made her so very special. She loved her coffee and sweets, dancing, playing cards (especially gin rummy), and a good laugh. She was not above some good-natured NY sarcasm, fitting for a lifelong NYC resident. She was often self-deprecating, but saw the good in others.

May she rest in well deserved eternal peace. She will live forever in our hearts.

A visitation for Evrideke will be held Friday, February 17, 2023 from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Frederick Funeral Home, 192-15 Northern Boulevard, Flushing, NY 11358. A visitation will occur Friday, February 17, 2023 from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM, 192-15 Northern Boulevard, Flushing, NY 11358. A funeral service will occur Saturday, February 18, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at St Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, 84-35 152nd Street, Jamaica, NY 11432. An interment will occur Saturday, February 18, 2023 from 12:15 PM to 12:30 PM at St Michaels Cemetery, 72-02 Astoria Blvd, East Elmhurst, NY 11370.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Evrideke's memory may be made to a charity of your choice.
