Grace T. Cutrofello

Grace was born on June 27, 1922 in the Bronx. Growing up during the depression taught Grace to be independent, strong, and resourceful and a saver of everything. These important traits earned her the nickname “Iron Lady”.

Grace joined the family business as a young child; her primary job was to affix the labels on the bottles of “perfume”. This was during the years of prohibition. Grace also did the ride alongs to deliver the “perfume” to affluent residents in Scarsdale, NY. She beamed a bright smile every time she told the story of her special Christmas Present – the largest doll she ever saw from the man who never put his arms in overcoat sleeves, with the initials AC.

Grace was one of the original “Ma Bell” telephone operators – a job she enjoyed. Grace shared hilarious stories as an operator, the first “social media” administrator.

Grace met her husband “Sio” at the young age of 9. They married in 1952, had 2 daughters, Pamela & Nancy. Their daughters were so precious to them, they lived to provide a loving, safe and comfortable home for their family.

Grace was an exceptional cook and baker. She loved to cook for her family. There was no recipe or invented recipe Grace prepared would receive no less than 5 stars in any fine restaurant. Her greetings to all who entered her home was Hi, “You hungry, sit down have something to eat.”

In 1992 Sio was called home and Grace continued to be that same independent Iron Lady. She filled her days by attending Silver Sneaker Gym classes, cooking and taking care of the love of her life – her family.

A visitation for Grace will be held Sunday, September 26 from 3:00pm to 7:00pm at Frederick Funeral Home, 192-15 Northern Boulevard, Flushing, NY 11358. A funeral mass will occur Monday, September 27 2021 from 9:45am to 10:45am at St Mel’s RC Church 26-15 154th St, Flushing NY 11354.

An interment will occur Monday, September 27 2021 from 11:45am to 12:15pm at St. Raymond’s Cemetery, 2600 Lafayette Avenue, Bronx, NY 10465
