Gregory J. Kalamaras, born on November 20th, 1963, passed away on May 29th, 2026. Greg was the beloved husband of Evangelia (Eva), and a loving father of Yianni and Demetra. He was the cherished son of John Kalamaras and the late Aphrodite Kalamaras. He was also a dear son in law, brother in law, uncle, nephew, cousin, and friend.
Greg was extremely fortunate to grow up surrounded by a loving extended family. His Yiayia and Pappou, along with his aunts and uncles played an important role in his childhood. As an only child, Greg often said that family is not limited to those with whom we share DNA, and he was blessed to have many people whom he considered brothers and sisters.
His family worked tirelessly throughout their lives and instilled in Greg the strong work ethic that would become one of his defining qualities. Uncle Bill passed on business sense, Aunt Helen supported him personally and professionally, unconditionally.
As a young man, Greg lived life to the fullest. Fearless and full of energy, he embraced every opportunity that came his way. He was an outstanding athlete whose passion for competition was evident whether he was playing basketball on the St. Nick’s courts or competing on the football field. His love of sports and his competitive spirit remained with him throughout his life.
Greg graduated from St. John’s University with a degree in Accounting and later earned his Law Degree. He was deeply involved in the Sons of Pericles, where his leadership, dedication, and ability to connect with others led him to rise to the highest office in the organization, serving as Supreme President. Through his service, he built lifelong friendships and relationships that stretched from coast to coast.
As he matured, Greg’s life experiences helped shape his entrepreneurial spirit. He approached every endeavor with determination, vision, and the confidence to pursue new opportunities.
Central Construction Management, his current professional accomplishment is where his partner, Michael, became a chosen brother. Greg was admired for his ability to bring reason, patience, and fairness to even the most complex situations. Clients and colleagues alike valued not only his expertise, but also his steady demeanor and principled approach. Greg had a rare gift for making others feel heard, respected, and at ease. His presence brought comfort, his judgement inspired confidence.
Those who knew Greg describe him as a man of remarkable character—grounded, humble, genuine, and deeply caring. He possessed a rare combination of strength and gentleness, paired with a sharp mind and quiet wisdom. Exceptionally loyal and generous-hearted, Greg was someone people could count on without question. He had a unique ability to make others feel seen, valued, and important, often anticipating their needs before they ever had to ask. Whether with family, friends, or colleagues, he led with kindness, empathy, and integrity, building relationships rooted in trust, respect, and belonging. Though often one of the smartest people in the room, he never sought recognition, choosing instead to listen thoughtfully, support others wholeheartedly, and lead by example. Greg's success never changed who he was at his core—a deeply human man who left a lasting impact on everyone fortunate enough to know him.
When Greg found his true love, Eva, his “bride” as he called her even in his last days in the hospital, he put family at the center of everything. It took a while to adjust to the size of his new extended family, however, he bonded and took care of Demi, his daughter immediately. When Greg first told his cousins about Eva his face lit up when he said “Eva is amazing, and wait until you meet Demi. I’m one lucky guy.” Greg loved unconditionally, and most importantly he knew the value of having laughter, and smiles in the house. He had a special relationship with his brother in law, Tony, and sister in law, Maria, although the joke always was that it was Greg and Maria vs the Xiotes. Together with Eva, Demi, and Yianni he built a beautiful life. Their house was open to friends, Greg and Eva lovingly raised their children, who will continue to carry forward his values, strength, and legacy.
Greg’s life was defined by his love of family, loyalty to friends, dedication, and unwavering determination. His memory will live on in the hearts of all those whose lives he touched. He will forever be loved, remembered, and cherished for the remarkable man he was.
May his memory be eternal. (Αἰωνία ἡ μνήμη.)
