Born on a farm in Łojki, Poland, Heronim lived a long and beautiful life surrounded by his family and friends. He served as a soldier for the Polish army. After marrying his sweetheart, Marianna, in 1956, Heronim sought to build a brighter future for his family and immigrated to the United States. Through hard work, determination, and the unwavering support from his wife, he overcame the challenges of a new language and culture, securing employment while raising four children in Flushing, Queens.
Heronim was known for welcoming everyone into his home with a warm smile. He saw the good in every person and wanted to provide the same generosity that his family and friends gave to him. When he reached retirement, everyone knew to go to Heronim to try his homegrown tomatoes, which he grew all the way until the end of his life. He also loved to share stories of his military service and cherished memories of meeting and building a life with Marianna.
A man of deep faith, Heronim attended mass whenever possible and remained devoted to his church throughout his life. Even as he struggled with mobility, he continued to make every effort to attend mass and pray daily. His faith and devotion was admired by all who knew him.
Heronim spoke of his family with great pride and treasured every opportunity to gather with loved ones for holidays, baptisms, weddings, and other special occasions. He is survived by his beloved wife of 70 years, Marianna, and dedicated children, John, Barbara, and Theresa. Heronim was also the proud grandfather of ten grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, Mario, and granddaughter, Joanna.
