Ilda L. Riobo

Ilda Riobó, born Ilda Lourdes Castiñeiras Moreda, was born in the parish of Logrosa, in La Coruña, Spain, on February 11, 1935. She moved to Havana, Cuba in her twenties, where she met and married fellow Galician, Manuel Riobó, with whom she had two children, Olga (Merino) and Carlos Riobó. The family moved to Queens, New York in 1970, where she and her husband continued to live until her death on October 23, 2021. She is survived by her husband Manolo, their children, Olga and Carlos, her grandchildren, Tania Merino and Louis Hamilton Riobo Alter, her son-in-law, Daniel Alter, her daughter’s partner David Reischer, and her brother Mario Castiñeiras from Spain.

A visitation for Ilda will be held Tuesday, October 26, 2021 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Frederick Funeral Home, 192-15 Northern Boulevard, Flushing, NY 11358. A funeral mass will occur Wednesday, October 27, 2021 from 9:45 AM to 10:30 AM at St. Kevin R.C. Church, 45-21 194th Street, Flushing, NY 11358. A committal service will occur Wednesday, October 27, 2021 from 11:00 AM to 11:30 AM at Mount St. Mary Cemetery, 164-15 Booth Memorial Avenue, Fresh Meadows, NY 11365.
