Irene L. Duffy

IRENE L. DUFFY passed away on February 18, 2014. She was born in New Bedford, MA on December 24, 1926. Irene graduated from New Bedford High School, she continued her education at Hunter College where she received a Bachelor degree, she then went on to obtain her Master degree at Queens College. She is the proud wife of WWII Veteran John J. Duffy. Irene had a career in Nursing where she worked at numerous hospitals including New London Hospital (New Hampshire), VA Hospital (Bronx), Columbian-Presbyterian (NYC) and many more. She then became a teacher where she taught nursing at many school within the NYC Department of Education. Irene was a member of the Red Hat Society. She had a love for the arts, a passion for opera and traveling. She is the loving mother of Paul LaVergne and aunt of Linda Antonion.

Arrangements are under the direction of Frederick Funeral Home, 192-15 Northern Boulevard ,Flushing, New York 11358.

The family of Irene Duffy will be receiving visitors on Thursday, February 20, 2014 from 2pm-5pm and 7pm-9pm and Friday, from February 21, 2014, 2pm-5pm and 7-9pm. Mass of Christian Burial Saturday, February 22, 2014 at 10:00 AM Holy Family RC Church. Interment to follow at Mt. St. Mary’s Cemetery.
