John Martin O'Rourke

John Martin O’Rourke, of Fresh Meadows, New York, and formerly of Killucan, Co. Westmeath, passed away peacefully on April 23rd, 2026, surrounded by his wife Assumpta, son Matthew, and daughter Jennifer.

For years, John fought a long, tough battle with cancer, but his positive mindset and radiant smile never failed to carry him each day. He is reunited with his parents, Laurence and Rita (Curley) O’Rourke, and brother, Joseph. He is lovingly remembered by his sisters Ita & Anne, brothers Hughie, James, Tony, Larry, & Tom. His mother-in-law Josie, his sister-in-laws, Kathleen, Margaret, Josephine, & Marie. Brother-in-laws, Gerard & Patrick. As well as his many other sister & brother-in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Visitation will be held at Frederick Funeral Home, 192-15 Northern Boulevard, Flushing, NY 11358,on Sunday, May 3, 2026, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm.

We will then have a visitation in Boyd’s Funeral Home in Birr, Co. Offaly on May 8th from 5pm to 7pm. A funeral Mass will take place at St. James’s Church, Eglish Co. Offaly, on May 9th at 12pm followed by the burial in the church’s cemetery.

Family flowers only; donations can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Little Sisters of the Poor in remembrance of John.
