John “Jack” McDermott, 66, of Woodside, New York, passed away on September 15, 2026. Born on August 11, 1960, Jack will be remembered as a cherished presence in the lives of those who knew him—steady in loyalty, generous in spirit, and kind-hearted in the quiet, enduring ways that matter most.

Jack loved baseball, especially his Yankees. He was also an avid basketball player and took great joy in watching his nephews play both sports and his nieces play volleyball—supporting them with the faithful attention and pride of a devoted uncle. Jack also coached the girls softball team, "Brady's Ladies".
Jack was predeceased by his mother, Johanna McDermott nee Lyons, his father, George McDermott Sr., and his younger brother Kenneth McDermott. Jack is the loving brother of Brian McDermott, George McDermott and Johanna (Anthony) Dolce. Jack was a devoted uncle of Kenny, Emma, AJ, Adrianna and Dawn (Pito).
