Reverend Jose A. Lugo Sr.

Jose Angel Lugo Sr., affectionately known as Angel, born on August 9, 1949, passed away peacefully on July 27, 2025, at the age of 75. He was a Christian man of faith, strength and unwavering love for his family. Angel leaves behind a legacy of service, compassion and devotion. He was the beloved husband of Joann for over 50 years and the proud father to Tina Marie Engel, Lisa Marie Kelly and Jose Angel Lugo Jr. He was a deeply cherished grandfather to Jessica, Lauren, Craig, Christopher, and Jenna, and a loving great-grandfather to Jonathan, Mikayla, Chloe, Emma, Christian, Jett, Craig, Theodore, Graham, and Charlotte. He is also survived by his dear brother, Warren.

Angel had a deep love for his family and found his greatest joy in spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a decorated United States Army Veteran, having honorably served in Vietnam as a Sergeant. After his military service, he devoted over 25 years as Pastor of The South Bronx Tabernacle, where he ministered with grace and dedication. His work as a Reverend and as the Director of The New Day Christian Counseling Center as well as a Missionary and Community Leader touched countless lives.

Though Angel has gone home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, his legacy of love, faith and strength will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

An Interment Service will be held at Pinelawn Memorial Park and Arboretum, located at 2030 Wellwood Ave, Farmingdale, NY 11735, on July 30, 2025, from 11:00 am to 11:30 am, arrival at 10:45am. Phone # 631-249-6100
