My sincerest condolences to the Montelle Family. I have such fond memories of you all & the times shared as neighbors on 170th Street.
Joe was a gentle, kind & loving & always the true gentleman! He loved the neighborhood children & always had a fatherly way w/ them. We were all blessed to have him ( & his wonderful family )as our neighbor! I am sure there is a big welcoming block party up in heaven!
May God bless you all & give you peace in your time of sorrow.
Love,
Catherine Simone

The Montelle Family had been our neighbors since 1954 .. I grew up next door and the girls and I along with my sister Maddy had many great memories.. including when their Great Grandmother and Grandmother Mary shared the same 3 family home.
Joe was the kindness most Gentleman to this day I have ever met outside of my own Dad John, and was always there sticking up for the "kids" when our mothers were giving us a lecture on reason or another! Even after my parents both passed.. and the house was sold in in the Mid 90's.. I kept in touch via Christmas cards and made it a point to pop in to see Camille and Joe and share fond memories when I was in the area.
I remember Lenore being the first one to get married on our block .. a EVENT for sure outside of me buying a horse "Foxy Lady" at Chick's Stables and riding it down our block for all to see and let graze in our back yard! I remember Joe saying "Millie..do we have anything to give it a treat?" I was 16 at the time 1969 and you enjoyed my Spunk as I enjoyed your support always.. Even playing Stick ball on the block when the ball would land in your bushes.. and you had to stop and retrieve as you mowed.
You will be missed Joe, but I know my mom Emilia and dad John and many others were there to Great you . It was indeed a wonderful life and great memories shared as kid and young adult growing up as neighbors on 170st ..
Thanks for the MEMORIES...............LOVE YOU Christine ..

Mr. Montelle was a kind gentleman who always made me feel welcome and wanted when I visited Lisa at home. He was a smart and lighthearted man who was patient and supportive of the women and friends in his family and life. He was welcoming and generous of others visiting his home; he helped raise wonderful, smart, and lovely women.

A sad loss...my condolences and prayers.

Joe was a dear man & a good neighbor, who I was lucky to know for many years After I'd left the neighborhood & moved upstate, he's always greet me when I returned to visit family, & have a big smile for me, always asking how life was "up in the country". He was such a caring person, & always so thoughtful. I will remember him fondly, & send my condolences to his wife, Millie, & to his three daughters.
