To the Portelli family,

I worked with Joe at Marubeni for many years and we had a strong relationship professionally and personally. We often passed each other in hallways and had great conversations on current events. Joe was an extremely intelligent, well informed, Gentlemen and it was an honor to have known him. His courageous battle over the years was inspirational to me,  especially  his last few months at Marubeni. He had such dignity and  strength!!

I will miss him and will remember him fondly!

We're so sorry to hear about Joe. Joe was always so kind and fun to be with when we saw each other at parties. We remember hearing about his projects fixing up the house, building a bed for Ethan and so on. Our memories of him will always be in our hearts. Our love to you, Ethan and your family.

I have known Joe for 18 years, his whole time at Marubeni. He was a consummate professional and gentleman.  I enjoyed working with him because he was always helpful, knowledgeable and sincere.  His old fashioned humor, high ethics and respect were refreshing.  I admired his patriotism and regard for decency.  He will be missed sorely by his colleagues and friends which I consider myself to have been.  May his kind soul rest in peace.

I worked with Joe and am so grateful for my experiences with him.  Such a kind, helpful, professional and gracious man.  He was such an example to me of how to persevere no matter what.
