

Joseph Anthony Totaro, born August 30, 1931, in the Bronx, New York died peacefully on September 29, 2014. He was a resident of Bayside, New York for 50 years who always called New York home. Joe retired as a Mechanic from United Airlines after more than 40 years, but actually started with Capital Airlines in Washington DC and then served in the Air Force during the Korean War before ultimately landing back home in New York where he worked and raised his family. A quiet but proud man, he was Husband, Father, Grandfather and Uncle to so many who loved and respected him and knew his family meant more to him than anything in the world. Joe was active in the Boys Scouts of America Pack and Troop 142 where both his sons were Eagle Scouts and he and his sons were Vigil Honor Members of the Order of the Arrow. He was also a long-time Parishioner of St Robert Bellarmine Church and member of the Italian-American Club. Joe was an extremely active member of the American Legion, the Retired United Airlines Employees Association and the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers.
Joe is survived by his son Anthony Totaro and Anthony's wife Diane Zorn Totaro, and his son John Totaro, as well as his four beloved grandchildren: Andrea, Joey, Lynn Marie and Andrew. Joe’s nieces and nephews : Catherine, Anthony, Claudia, Maria, Susan, Andrew, Andrea, Christina, Annette and Joanne were always a huge part of his life.
