I am very sorry for your loss.

Aunt Jo was always terrific with me especially when my parents both died in 1996.  I would call her many times and she gave me comfort and hope.  I'll miss you Aunt Jo.

I 'lost track of her' when she went to the care home because I would always call the family home and I did not know the number.

I loved the photo of your mom.  She looked great.  You know she was my mother's brother.

The last time I remember seeing her was maybe the Christmas of 1954 when the whole family would visit Glenn Ridge.  This was my early formation of what love looked like when everyone                 was there.

Aunt Jo and Uncle Tony always greeted everyone at a family get together with such happiness. Aunt Jo made Mike feel like part of the family right from the every beginning. He loved being able to see her and having talks with her. He will treasure those talks with her.

Memories are made of this.  I brought my wife, Carla to meet my aunt for the first time.  As we approached the house, the front door swung open to reveal a woman with a big smile and outstretched arms exclaiming, "Here I am!"   Carla and I will never forget that genuine moment of warmth and playful enthusiasm.  That was Aunt Jo.  We will miss her.

As a child growing up with Aunt Jo I always thought she was a generation behind in how she actually lived. Who on earth walked around with a magic marker and notepad? Something caught her eye, she jotted it down. A thought crossed her mind, she jotted it down. A new discovered place, it went down with that marker. I have a an author friend whose best seller is titled, “Write it Down and Make it Happen”. My Aunt Jo lived this title.
        She promised to take me on a jaunt to New York, see a play, then eat at Sardis. She was sooo ahead of her time.
        Listening to the aunts and uncles chat during holiday dinners Aunt Jo was never timid when the conversation turned to modern topics. After Uncle Paul mentioned that the The Last Tango in Paris was deserving of an X-rating Aunt Jo's, “Oh, I’ve got to see that!” stays with me to this day. Way ahead of her time.
       I am terribly saddened that she has passed. She is the last of that generation of adults in my family. At the same time I am thrilled that she is with Uncle Tony. ….and that, makes me smile.

Aunt Jo is such a vivid part of my memories of family gatherings. She was always so lively and fun, and I know she was such a good sister in law and friend to my grandparents. In recent years I loved to send her cards and notes with updates about my family, and I was always so touched that she took the time to write (in her beautifully impeccable handwriting!) a letter back, and even a phone call a couple of times!  I've lived far from New York for awhile now but it has always been a comfort to hear from her and see updates. She seems like she stayed happy and positive as she aged, and I hope that I can be the same way someday, happily sitting by my great grandchildren blowing out candles on my 99th, 100th, and maybe even 101st birthday.
