It is with profound sadness that we share the news of the passing of our dearest mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, Julia “Judy” Ann Schmidt at age 94 in Cary, NC. Born May 2, 1928 and raised in College Point, NY, Judy joins her beloved late husband William, her loving parents, Margaret Dennehy and Michael Dennehy, and her sister Evelyn (Dennehy) Collins and twin brother William Dennehy in heaven. Mother of William “Billy” Schmidt, Marjorie (Schmidt) Russo, and Robert Schmidt; mother-in-law of Gail Miranda-Schmidt, Dawn Schmidt, and Thomas Russo; grandmother of Erin (Schmidt) Byrd, William D. Schmidt, Lindsay (Schmidt) Weber and Adam Schmidt; grandmother-in-law to Travis Byrd, Diana Schmidt and Christopher Weber; and great-grandmother to Aubrey Byrd, McKenna Byrd, William P. Schmidt, Calum Schmidt, Holland Schmidt, and Amelia Hope Weber.
Judy raised her three children with her loving husband, Bill, in their shared hometown of College Point, NY. Later in life, Judy relished in making numerous trips to Ireland (the home of her parents) with Marjorie, where they connected with most of her Irish relatives that she had previously never met with whom they shared many good times. In 2015, Judy moved to Cary, North Carolina where she made numerous friends and was known as “The Queen” by her friends in the Carolina Preserve. Judy has touched many hearts and will be sorely missed.
