March 19, 1934 – May 9, 2026
Katy Pafitis passed away peacefully at the age of ninety-two. Born in Naxos, Greece, on March 19, 1934, she emigrated to New York City with her family when she was one year old. Her childhood was spent in Manhattan with her parents, two brothers, and her sister, before moving to Astoria, where she met her future husband, Andrew. Throughout her life in Astoria, Flushing, and Greenport, Katy was surrounded by her extended family of nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly. She was known for her compassion, wit, and ability to uplift others through hope and laughter. Her strong-willed nature and determination helped her excel in traditional homemaking skills such as sewing and cooking, and she was a self-taught problem solver. Her striking blue eyes and warm smile complemented her capacity to balance roles as a bank teller, wife, and mother. As a devout Greek Orthodox, her life was deeply rooted in love, faith, and family devotion. She is survived by her sons, Constantine and John; grandsons, Andrew and Nicholas; and great-grandson, Jackson. Her life was a blessing to all who knew her, and her memory remains close to her loved ones. Her legacy reflects resilience, faith, and dedication to her family, leaving a lasting impact on everyone she touched.
