Madeline Venuti

Madeline was born on January 30, 1930 in Corona, NY to Jenny and Carmine Carrozzo. She graduated from St. Leo’s grammar school and Flushing High School. On November 25, 1950, she married James Venuti. They raised two sons, James and Stephen, and two daughters, Laurie and Maria.

Madeline was a devout Catholic who served as an Eucharistic minister for many years in the parish of St. Mary’s Nativity. She was also president of the Rosary Society and served on their board in many different capacities. She was a volunteer in pastoral care at St. Francis Hospital, where she brought the eucharist to patients every Wednesday as well as selling chances for the guild. She loved her family dearly and enjoyed watching all of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren grow up. She showed her love through the traditional meals she prepared for the holidays such as Christmas cakes and Easter pie. Madeline was a snow bird who loved going to Florida for the winter although her accrued frequent flyer miles were that of daily mass. Her husband called Madeline the “Rock of Gibraltar” and for good reason, there was no stronger woman. This rock is seen as a symbol of strength and resilience which is what Madeline was indeed, she was the rock of our family.

Madeline was preceded in death by her father, Carmine, her mother, Jenny, her husband, James and daughter-in-law Christine. She is survived by her Brother, Carmine; brother and sister-in law Robert and Anne; her four children, James, Stephen, Laurie, Maria; son-in-law Sean, daughters-in-law Donna and Julia; grandchildren Lisa, Jennifer and Joe, James IV, Alexandria and Nicholas, Kristen and Thomas, Sean and Jenna, Gina and Michael, Andrew and Alyssa, Thomas and Denise, Vittoria, and Toni-Ann; and great grandchildren Christopher, Justin, Michael, Isabella, Abigail, Thomas Jr., Giovanna, many cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
