Betsy cherished her sister Margaret more than words can express. She loved to see her and really loved to talk to her on the phone because miles kept them apart. She always talked about and admired how beautiful and classy she was.

To Dan and all the Sheehan Clan, my deepest sympathies on the sad passing of your dear Margaret. Having got to know Margaret during my time as Consul General of Ireland in New York 20 or so years ago, I came to so value her wonderful qualities of kindness, goodness and generosity. Of course, any description of Margaret has to also include the word "elegance" because she oozed it. You and she were such a tremendous couple together and your contribution to all things Irish in New York was deeply valued I know by my successors, including the current Consul General, Helena Nolan.
