Marie Margaret Mack

May 2, 1928 – August 30, 2026

Our beloved mother, Marie Mack, was born in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, on May 2, 1928. She was the youngest of Anna Louise and William Day’s seven children. As the youngest sibling, Marie looked up and adored her four brothers and two sisters. She never forgot her brothers, John and William, who sacrificed their lives during World War II for our freedom.

As a young woman, Marie worked at Pfizer Pharmaceutical Company. She was a devoted Catholic who prayed faithfully, with a special devotion to the Infant of Prague. Her prayers were answered when she met the love of her life, her husband, Lawrence “Larry” Mack.

Marie and Larry made their home in Flushing, New York, where she had six children. She was very proud of their Catholic upbringing and of each of their accomplishments: Larry and John, who were FDNY officers; Marie, an OR cardiac nurse; and Terry, an art teacher. Marie had a kind and generous heart and never forgot her humble beginnings. She was always thinking of others and never forgot a birthday, anniversary, or illness. She was known for her sharp memory and quick sense of humor. She was deeply patriotic and immensely proud of her Irish heritage. She especially loved Irish music and could never resist the sound of bagpipers.

After her children were grown, Marie worked for many years at Alexander’s department store, where she formed friendships that continued long after she retired. She remained active in her church and community and was a member of the Rosary Society, Senior Citizens Club, and Arts & Crafts Club.

But the greatest loves of Marie’s life were her grandchildren. Her ten grandchildren were the center of her world. For years, she happily traveled from house to house, helping with babysitting and attending her grandchildren’s events. She loved keeping everyone updated on each grandchild’s accomplishments and held a special place in her heart for every one of them.

And then came her seven great-grandchildren, who brought her immense happiness. They created countless special memories with her that will be treasured forever.

Marie leaves behind a lifetime of memories filled with love, laughter, faith, and wisdom. She will be deeply missed by her children and their spouses: Larry; Marie and Kenny Beck; Terry and Jim McLoughlin; and John and Diane Mack; her grandchildren, Bryan, Candice, Colleen and Aaron Hughes, Danielle and Danny D’Elena, John Beck, Jimmy and Mariana McLoughlin, Meagan, Billy, Bobby, and Tommy; and her seven beloved great-grandchildren, Brendan, Shannon, Kiera, Nolan, Mary, Eleanor, and Jackson.

Marie also leaves behind many extended family members, including her sister-in-law Lynne, many nieces and nephews, as well as friends and wonderful caregivers who were an important part of her life.

Marie was predeceased by her parents, Anna Louise and William Day; two children, William and Ann; brothers, John, William, Barney (Dot), and Eugene (Joan); sisters, Sally (Martin) and Dolly (Mickey); sister-in-law Barbara (Tom); brother-in-law Eddie; nephew Tom McGrath; and her beloved husband of 44 years, Lawrence E. Mack.

Marie leaves us with much more than memories. She leaves behind the example of a woman who loved deeply, remembered everyone, gave generously, prayed faithfully, laughed often, and cherished her family above all else.

Visitation will be held at Frederick Funeral Home, 192-15 Northern Boulevard, Flushing, NY 11358, US, on September 3, 2026, from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm.

A Religious Ceremony will take place at St. Kevin's RC Church, 45-21 194th St, Flushing, NY 11358, US, on September 4, 2026, from 9:45 am to 10:45 am.

A Committal Service will be held at Calverton National Cemetery, 210 Princeton Blvd, Calverton, NY 11933, US, on September 4, 2026, from 12:30 pm to 1:00 pm.
