Marie and her husband Lucien were best friends of my parents since the 1970's in the neighborhood. My father, Sylvain Nadjar, and I, Fabiola Nadjar Fiore, were food shopping at the A & P (back then) and Marie and Lucien heard us speaking in French. Came home and told my mother, Rosalie Louarn Nadjar, that we met another French family in the neighborhood. That commenced a beautiful friendship ! Till due all four of them part... Now, they can all be at peace in Heaven, with Louis Armstrong serenading them at night. My parents introduced Marie and Lucien to many of our other French friends on Long Island and we always had memorable gatherings and times together. Marie had me take driving classes at the same auto school she went to. Little things like this was quite significant to me. When pandemic started in New York, my father had just died and with him so did all the income that supported me as his caregiver and my daughters still in school. I had to collect free food from the local NYC schools that were distributing to feed one of my daughters still at home and myself. I always took an extra days worth of meals each day for Marie to give her more food and choices than her eldercare menus. Marie would have me pick up fruit, vegetables, cold cuts and her prescriptions and give me an extra $5 for gas or for a treat for my daughter and me. She didn't have to, but she cared for us, just as we had all cared for her and her husband, all these years of real, true, genuine friendship. That's what friendship is, holding hands and helping in any time of need. Marie and Lucien were more than friends, they were family and I always considered them as my aunt and my uncle since I was a preteen. Rest In Peace, Marie. You were beautiful inside and outside ! Positive and Sweet ! Always wise advice. Very dear to me. I will miss you a lot. The laughs, the fun... remain in my mind and my heart. Love you, Fabiola and daughters - Valerie and Elisa Fiore
