I didn't realize Mickey was gone until I got a returned Holiday Card.  I have known Mickey since 1979.  We had a lot of good times skiing together.  He was an excellent skier!  We lost touch for years when I moved to NJ, then AZ and CA.  We got back in touch a few years ago, although sporadically.  Sadly, I can only assume that this is the same Mickey from the comments about Belmont.  He loved horses.  Mickey was a wonderful human being.  May his memory be a blessing....

This is a very hard thing for me to start with, me and Mickey have been friends for about 25 years.  Within that time, we went to a lot of jazz concerts, talked about the Honeymooners, went to luncheons with our Post Office friends, and I thought for the rest of our time it would be this way.  Every time I would call him or he would call me, it would always be a little comedy.  We had nicknames for each other! And it was a friendly part of life.  In this week alone, I just finished a painting that I thought might be the best I've ever done.  My wife sent an email to tell him about it.  I didn't hear from him and that's not like him.  All I can really say is that losing one of my best friends is going to take forever.  To all his other friends, I am so proud to say that I knew Mickey Frome and I'll always think of him.  Even right now, I feel like calling him and saying "how are you doing, buddy", but I know I can't do it.

Mickey - you left us to soon.  I've know Mickey since the late 1970's and he was a really nice guy and a very funny and caring person. Wow - what a meticulous artist. He once told me how many brush strokes he put into one of his paintings, it was over 1 million.  Miss you!   

 May you rest in peace , Mickey.  We haven’t cross paths in many years, but your old friends always told me what you were up to.    Always remember Belmont Park !   

we have known Mickey for a long time - close to 50 years - many wonderful conversations and lots of laughs - I remember standing at finish line at Belmont Park for Affirmed and Alydar race with Mickey and how much fun it was...you will be missed by many people Mickey...and you were loved by many too.

Mickey was part of a special group of friends I met shortly after moving to Queens from NJ in the early 1970s. Our group spent many evenings playing music and talking and Mickey helped make those times special and invigorating. He gave me painting lessons in exchange for music lessons and he will always hold a special place in my heart. With Facebook we reconnected after so many years and shared a few phone calls, mostly about music and art. And as Mickey always said at the end of those conversations: "You take good care." So many loved you Mickey so now its your turn: "You take good care. " Love you Mickey Frome. 

Mickey shall always have a special place in my heart and soul. To know and love Mickey is a delightful gift for both people and all the four-legged friends.  His artistic talents with a camera, the brush, the saxophone and especially his delightful personality colored him beautifully. Now, his soul complete in this lifetime, he shares and bridges his energy in spirit and with love. To have known Mickey is an honor and a joy.

I know Mickey since grade seven. We were in many classes together through our years in JHS, and then on thru Van Buren HS. We hung out so many Friday nights, and shared our interests in cars, while standing on the corner of Little Neck Pkwy And Union Tpke. I guess it was The Sands and later Jan’s. I missed him terribly when he went away for summer vacations, and now will miss him once again.

Mickey was a sweet guy I knew from the track. His love of animals airplanes and people made him a great person to be around. He will be forever missed. My deepest condolences to his family.

I knew Mickey from Facebook and was friends with him for many years. I am at a total loss  at his passing.  Such a kind and wonderful man.  RIP Mickey and condolences to your family. Until we talk again one day  

I became friends with Mickey in 2007,we would talk about horse raceing and the beautiful animals he loved to photograph,and make paintings of. I will miss Mickey a great deal.Ithought of him as a good friend.        Mike Aulicino

I met Mickey in 1986 shortly after I met my husband, David.  David & Mickey go back to public school...
We were @ a birthday party when I
met him -  he was standing @ a bar where were introduced. It’s as if I knew him always, we struck up an immediate  connection.   25 yrs & thousands of varied conversations later he has now left us😿.  
Mickey will never fade away in our hearts...
HE’LL be just fine, I’m certain of that.
Its those of us who came to know & love  him on a regular basis  that have been left with this massive loss.

Mickey was a bright, shining star, and our chats at Alley Pond Park were always full of surprises because he was well versed in so many areas.  Every dog was his favorite, and the canine contingent gravitated to his kind, loving spirit.  It wasn't uncommon to see a pooch cuddled in each arm. Rest in peace.

Mickey will be missed by many.  Mickey had a personality that you encounter once in a lifetime.  I’ll miss the conversations that we had.  I would joke with him all the time and refer to him as the master of the non sequitur as our conversations would veer wildly off topic but that was the charm of Mickey.   The Belmont mornings will definitely not be the same with out him.  Rest In Peace.  

To Mickey's friends, I am so happy to see the large outpouring of love for Mickey, it really warms my heart. While I did not know him well we knew each other almost 50 years. Sail on Mickey, into those bright blue skies, glad I had a chance to catch up before his exit. Peace.

Hello.  I would first like to extend my condolences to Mickey's family. He and I were out of touch for years but had been close friends "back in the day."
Max was my 6th grade teacher, but I did not meet Mickey until 1967. We shared many good and interesting times.   Often we would go to West End 2 Jones Beach go out on the jetty and loudly recite lines from Moby Dick.
I have spoken to several other old friends today all sorry to learn of Mickey's passing.

I am stunned! This just popped up on Facebook.  I met Mark in Martin Van Buren High school.  We were in the honor art class together. He was a fun loving guy!  Rest in peace Mickey, you will be sorely missed.

I met Mickey at Belmont Racetrack. He was part of a group of photographers that included my husband, who would meet on weekend mornings to watch the horses exercise. He was such a genuinely nice, thoughtful and knowledgeable person. He never just said hello when greeting you. He always had some clever little way of addressing you.  He knew something about everything and was so eager to share his little known facts! Every time I look up at the clouds I can hear him telling me what kind of cloud it is.  And every time I crop a photo to straighten it...I think of him as we would have many conversations about how much a crooked photo irked us both! Mornings at the track will not be the same without him. May his gentle soul rest in eternal peace. 

Martin Van Buren High School is where our large group of friends came together from various JHS in Queens. Mickey was a great guy to hang with. He was fun loving and caring. It was great being able to catch up online. I was so looking forward to someday getting together... but I will still have many memories to hold on to. Rest In Peace my Friend...xoxo, Jolynn
