Girl, where do I begin? As I’m looking at my instagram pics from a while ago, I remembered what a special friend you were to me. You went all out of your way to buy me a hello kitty birthday cake because you knew I loved hello kitty.  You caught my attention when I saw your devotion for animals. I am so blessed that you entered my life and we became friends. Thank you for coming to ladies night back to the city after your work shift just to hang out. You were the first person I told I was leaving NY to move to Florida, you said “don’t go” but you understood why. Thank you for being the only person to come visit me in Florida. Thank you for making our Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios so much fun. I made sure the monsters wouldn’t get you. Thank you for teaching me a valuable lesson and being more giving to others. Martha, I am so honored that we became such close friends during my last years in NY and teaching me how to be a real human being. Thank you my friend 🤍

Dear Martha 

Thought about a million things to say but honestly how can I or anyone fully express what we feel today?

Until I met you I was confident  there wasn’t anyone in this earth who loved animals more than me. In fact I’m pretty sure we grew to  care for each other  due to the fact that  we liked them more than we do people. 

Too soon you were taken from us and why I’ll never understand, but know you have left your mark in this earth. All the animals you saved. All the second chances you gave, all the joy you brought to families….thats eternal. 

Now we’re left with the memory of you, and although it brings tears to know those memories will never happen again, it also brings me joy to know they exist and that you were a part of a chapter of my life. 

Be in peace my friend….until we meet again

To the family of Martha,

My deepest condolences.  I was a volunteer at AH from 2012-2015.  I got to know Martha well  my l last year at the shelter when I fostered one of the dogs whom I eventually adopted.  The foster and adoption would not have been possible without Martha's help, going way above and beyond.  Martha was always so sweet and cheery, and always happy to help.  I was crushed when I heard the terrible news from AH last week. Our only consolation is that Martha is no longer suffering.  Martha's selfless nature left its mark on AH.  

Again I am so sorry for your terrible loss.

Lydia and I are deeply saddened to hear of Martha’s passing.  We remember her fondly.  She was a beautiful and vivacious person.

To the family of Martha, her friends close loved ones- my heart holds yours in the passing of your beloved Martha. I am so sorry for your loss. You are in my thoughts and prayers during your grief and mourning.

I was a volunteer at Animal Haven where Martha worked on staff. While not close friends, she was kind and gracious to me.  I admired Martha. She had an easy going way about her.  Her gentleness with the dogs. He incredible skills and gifts with the pups of AH. Training them. Caring for them. The comfortable ease with which she interacted with humans too.
