Miranda T Liao, 95, died on July 9, 2026. Miranda was a resident of Forest Hills, New York. Born on November 29, 1930, she will be remembered with respect and affection for the gentle way she moved through the world and the grace with which she met each day.
Miranda was the beloved mother of Wendy Liao, Winifred Liao and her husband Kazuaki Miyagi and Peggy Liao. She was a loving grandmother of Jessica (Darius) Grace and Joshua Sheh, Ken (Tiffany) Miyagi, and a cherished great grandmother of Nyla Grace, Niko Miyagi and Nori Miyagi. She was a dear sister of Mason Tung, Melvin Tung and the late Major Tung.
Miranda was a creative person. Varied in her artistic gifts, she was an expert knitter—able to interpret and transform any imagery into a beautiful knitting rendition with patience and care. She was also known as a great cook, and her home had the warmth of simple, well-made comforts. Her love for animals, classical music, and reading reflected a joyful appreciation of modest things in life. When traveling, Miranda collected rocks and nicknacks from local places as remembrances—small, honest tokens of where she had been and what she had noticed along the way. She also had an amazing green thumb, growing beautiful plants in her apartment with the same gentle devotion she gave to everything she tended.
Visitation will be held at Frederick Funeral Home, 192-15 Northern Boulevard, Flushing, NY 11358, US, on July 18, 2026, from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm.
