Mirleine was born on April 6, 1959 in Marmalade, Gonaives to Max Coq and Aline Pierre Louis (who predeceased her). She attended elementary school at St. Peter Claver, junior high school at Sacred heart and graduated from Eben- Ezer high school in Gonaives. She stayed in Gonaives, until she came to the United States at the age of 17.
She was a woman of many principles with her top priority and focus being on education. She inherently believed in the value of having a good education. Once in the states, she continued her education earning an Associates degree as a medical transcriptionist at Interbero College, and then went on to earn her Bachelor of Arts degree from City College.
Mirleine was a public servant and dedicated 38 years of hardwork to the city of NY. She worked for the Housing Preservation and Development Agency as an Office Aide Typist; The Administration for Children's Services as a caseworker; then finally settling her career at the Department of Health where she served as a Senior Public Health Advisor for the immunization clinics in the 5 boroughs and ended her career doing school immunization records review. She was proud of the 32 years she spent serving the city and various communities while working in the Department of Health; and had only just retired on January 25, 2022.
Mirleine loved life. She spent most of her days shopping at her favorite stores, eating her favorite foods, traveling, exploring the streets of her neighborhood and spending time with her immediate and extended family. She was a true believer in giving back to others and not only preached this, but lived it. It did not matter who you were or how long she had known you, Mirleine would find a way to help you; often without being asked. She cared with her whole heart and she made sure that everyone around her was well taken care of.
Mirleine leaves behind her husband Eddy; her two daughters: Dominique and Josiane; Son in Law: Justin; sisters: Javeline Duroseau (Serge), Youville (Martine) Guerrier (Sergo); Brother: Nels Coq; nephews: Guerdy Guerrier (Cristina Valdez-Guerrier), Gregory Guerrier (Elise Guerrier) & Raschid Duroseau; Nieces: Rachelle Duroseau, Maya & Melinda Coq; Aunts: Erla & Anne-Marie; Siblings: Edwin Coq, Nimerode Coq, Penel Coq, Brighite Coq( Ralph Constant),Aricie Coq (Newton Henry) & Luxe Coq(Julius Lopez); Cousins: Rene Pierre, Carmen Jean -Baptiste, Junie Alexandre, Ketlyne Alexandre, Renée Alexandre, Marva Pierre - Louis, Ursula Pierre-Louis, Frantz Verna, Ronald Verna, Edwin Verna, Eric Verna, Isla Pierre, Renelle Pierre, Marie Bell (Clinton Bell); as well as countless extended family & Friends.
