Napoles Jorge

February 10, 1929, Nápoles Jorge Batista was born, in Las Matas de Santa Cruz, son of Inocencia Batista (1900-1938) and Ysmael Jorge (1901-1982). Napoles was the third of 9 siblings. This beautiful couple conceived María, Ramon (Canto), Nápoles, and Porto (Chichí). When Nápoles' mother died, Mr. Ysmael married Mrs. Ana F Cabreja Álvarez (Doña Bola) and the other Nápoles siblings conceived - Migdalia, Persio, Yndiana, Ernesto & Yrma.

At the beginning of the 1950s, after the construction of the pier, and amid the dictatorship, he went to the Dominican capital in search of a better job and a possible exit from the country, something that was almost impossible at the time. There, with the help of God, he manages to get a job on the Evangeline cruise ship and in turn obtains an exit permit -- this was a miracle and the great opportunity that Napoles needed for him and his family.

After many work trips to the Caribbean, he realized once again that the Evangeline cruise ship did not meet his expectations and decided one day that as soon as the cruise ship entered Florida to receive the necessary services, he would stay in the United States. United, the promised land, as he used to call it. As soon as it was possible, in 1958, he did so and in a very short time, in the company of some Puerto Rican friends, he moved to New York, where he eventually worked for 30 years as a waiter at the Pines Hotel, the hotel industry in the Catskill Mountains. In 1962 he bought his first property in Corona, Queens where he lived until his last moment. He then began working in building maintenance in the Greenwich Village area, building 77 Bleecker Street from which he retired in the 1996 but continued to work when called to cover vacations or to keep busy. After his retirement, he dedicated himself to enjoying his family, and his friends and traveling as many times as possible. During this time he learned to use modern technology, which he used to the fullest to stay connected with all his loved ones - none of us can complain because he gave us a lot of time and love in our joyful years.

After marrying on January 12, 1965, Ada Celeste Jaquez Peña, his loving wife of almost 60 years, blessed this union with 3 children Gary, Kathryn, and Jean, and then came his beautiful grandson who brought him so much joy, Enzo.

The Jorge Jáquez family would like to thank all those who have supported us in this difficult time when we also celebrate the exemplary life of Nápoles. We are eternally grateful for your expressions of love, for the blessing that you all are in our lives, and for your presence today.

10 de febrero del 1929 nace Nápoles Jorge Batista, en Las Matas de Santa Cruz, hijo de Inocencia Batista (1900-1938) y Ysmael Jorge (1901-1982). Nápoles fue el tercero de 9 hermanos. Esta linda pareja concibió a María, Ramon (Canto), Nápoles y a Porto (Chichí). Al morir la madre de Nápoles, el Señor Ysmael contrajo matrimonio con la señora Ana F Cabreja Álvarez (Doña Bola) y concibieron los demás hermanos de Nápoles - Migdalia, Persio, Yndiana, Ernesto & Yrma.

A principio de la década del 50, después de la construcción del muelle, y en plena dictadura se va a la capital dominicana en búsqueda de mejor trabajo y de la posible salida del país, cosa que era casi imposible en la época. Allí, con la ayuda de Dios, logra conseguir trabajo en el crucero Evangeline y a su vez logra el permiso de salida -- esto fue todo un milagro y la gran oportunidad que Nápoles necesitaba para él y su familia.

Después de muchos viajes de trabajo por el caribe, se da cuenta una vez más, que tampoco el crucero Evangeline satisface sus expectativas y decide un buen día que tan pronto el crucero entrara a la Florida a recibir los servicios necesarios, se quedaría en los Estados Unidos, la tierra prometida, como solía llamarle. Tan pronto fue posible, en el 1958, así lo hizo y en muy poco tiempo, en compañía de unos amigos puertorriqueños, se trasladó a New York, donde eventualmente trabajó 30 años como mesero en el Pines Hotel, la industria hotelera de los Catskill Mountains. En 1962 compro su primera propiedad en Corona, Queens donde vivo hasta su último momento. Luego empieza a trabajar en mantenimiento de edificios en el área de Greenwich Village, el edificio 77 de la calle Bleecker de donde se retiró en 1996 pero continuaba trabajando cuando lo llamaran para cubrir vacaciones o para mantenerse ocupado. Después de su retiro, se dedicó a disfrutar de su familia, de sus amigos y viajando todas las veces que le fue posible. Durante este tiempo aprendió a usar tecnología moderna, la cual usó a lo máximo para mantenerse comunicado con todos sus seres queridos - ningunos nos podemos quejar porque nos dio mucho tiempo y amor en los años de júbilo.

Después de casarse un 12 de enero del 1965 con Ada Celeste Jaquez Peña, su amorosa esposa de casi 60 años, la cual Dios bendijo esta unión con 3 hijos - Gary, Kathryn y Jean y después llegó su hermoso nieto que le produjo tanta alegría, Enzo.

La familia Jorge Jáquez desean agradecer a todos aquellos que nos han apoyado en este momento difícil, cuando también celebramos la vida ejemplar de Nápoles. Estamos eternamente agradecidos por sus expresiones de amor, por la bendición que todos ustedes son en nuestras vidas y por sus presencias hoy.
