In loving memory of N. Venkataramani (April 13, 1950 - September 18, 2022). He was a beloved son, brother, father, father-in-law, and grandfather; a cherished friend; a respected community leader and a humble servant of God.
Venkataramani (affectionately known as Ramani, Venkat, or Venki) was an extraordinary person, a success story on every measure. He began his life in modest means, needing and enlisting much support to complete his education. Ever grateful for the kindness of others, he built himself into a consummate professional through sheer hard work. He navigated an accomplished career in Finance in India and the United States. At his retirement, he was Senior Advisor to New World Investments in New York City.
With a sharp and nimble mind, Ramani was a strategist, communicator and a consensus builder. He always brought people together to achieve collaboration on ideas and projects. He epitomized hard work, diligence, and dedication, and consistently implemented successful initiatives.
He brought his professional background, learnings and work ethic to his post-retirement passion: volunteering at the Hindu Temple Society of North America in Flushing. His emphasis on leading through relationships resonated across the community, earning him much love and admiration.
Ramani dedicated his life to serving others. He was consistently appreciated by his extended family and community for his timely assistance across a variety of need, from financial to physical to emotional. Ramani often helped anonymously, and never publicly discussed his many acts of support.
Above all else, Ramani valued people. He had the gift of making everyone feel welcome and cared about. He frequently took the time to check in with people no matter whether they were family friends, neighbors, building staff, former colleagues, or even people he had just met. He especially cherished his family. He often remarked to neighbors that his favorite job was being a grandpa. He worked hard to impart his values and skills into his daughter and granddaughters, who will remain ever grateful for being blessed with his presence, guidance, and unconditional love.
He fought valiantly for the past 9 months; he passed away peacefully with his wife and daughter by his side. He took his last breaths with his favorite chants playing, and while his daughter held his hands.
Ramani is survived by his wife Lalitha, daughter Anitha, son-in-law Vaibhav, granddaughters Ananya and Ameya, brothers and sisters and their families, as well as Lalitha’s extended family. His immediate family, friends, and loved ones know he will always be with them as a guiding light.
