FLUSHING, NY – Nicolaos George Botoulas April 15, 1937 – April 7, 2020. Resident of Flushing, NY, Nicolaos George Botoulas, passed away peacefully on Tuesday in the comfort of his home having earlier been surrounded by his immediate family. He was born in a small mountain village outside of Tripoli, Greece called Athineon. After high school, he joined the Greek Air Force followed by service in the Greek Police. Seeking opportunity, he followed his brother Peter to the United States in 1966, first washing dishes then quickly becoming a grillman without speaking a word of English. He later arrived in Queens where he met his wife through mutual friends and ultimately owned a liquor store.
He was a wonderful family man who always had an engaging personality, positive outlook on life and had an, oftentimes, mischievous smile on his face. Nick is survived by his loving wife, Stamatiki (Matina); devoted children Marilena Botoulas of Bayside and Georgia Botoulas of Glen Cove; sister-in-law Maria Botoulas of Lake Placid and sisters in Athineon and Megalopoli and many nieces and nephews both in Greece and the United States. Nick was preceded in death by his brother Peter.
We wish that all would be welcome to attend and celebrate the life of Nick. However, given the current state of the world, a family-only funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 16th at St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church followed by a burial at Flushing Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer that donations be made in Nick’s memory to either Lustgarten Foundation Pancreatic Cancer Research or St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church in Flushing, NY. He will be sorely missed.
thank you!
