Peter lived a long and full life defined by love, family, hard work, faith, and the simple joys that brought everyone together. A proud veteran and talented engineer, he carried with him a remarkable combination of intelligence, creativity, responsibility, and devotion throughout his life. He was also a gifted artist and woodworker who took great pride in creating things with his own hands.
Peter was a devoted Catholic and a man of God. His faith was an important part of his life, and he remained dedicated to attending church throughout the years. The values rooted in that faith—love, loyalty, generosity, service, and devotion to family—were reflected in the way he lived every day.
Above all else, Peter was the true definition of a family man. His greatest happiness came from being surrounded by the people he loved, and he made family a priority in everything he did. He celebrated every occasion, both big and small. He was there for Christmases, graduations, birthdays, and family celebrations, and he showed up proudly for his grandchildren’s games, performances, and events.
But Peter also understood that some of the most meaningful memories were made in the ordinary moments in between. He made time to go out to lunch together, play a round of mini golf, gather everyone for backyard games, or challenge his grandchildren to ping pong in his basement—where, more often than not, Grandpa was still the one to beat. He didn’t need a special occasion to spend time with his family. Being together was the occasion.
Peter loved sailing and fishing and treasured the family camping trips to Montauk. He took tremendous pride in his garden, particularly the giant zucchinis and butternut squashes that became a familiar and much-loved part of family life. Whether he was tending his garden, working with wood, playing games in the backyard, or sitting around a table surrounded by generations of his family, Peter found joy in the life he had built.
He always made sure the people he loved were taken care of, especially his beloved wife, Jean. His devotion to her and to their family was evident throughout his life. Through both the grand
celebrations and the quiet everyday moments, Peter taught his family what it truly meant to love, provide for, and show up for one another.
Peter is survived by his beloved wife, Jean Cettina; his six children and their spouses, Donna, Peter and Maureen, Diane, Darlene and Scott, Paul and Anabelle, and Michael and Christina.
He was deeply loved by his grandchildren: Kyle, Jessica, Anthony, Chris, Brian, Michele, Danielle, Diana, Julie, Jake, Dominique, Justin, and Baby Michael.
He was also the proud great-grandfather of Khloe, Tyler, Charlotte, Sydney, Maribelle, Selena, Brayden, Isabella, Gemma, Nathan, Mikayla, and Jean.
Peter leaves behind an extraordinar legacy in the family he loved so fiercely. He will be remembered as a loving husband, devoted father, treasured grandfather and great-grandfather, proud veteran, and the heart of a family he spent a lifetime nurturing and protecting.
His lessons, traditions, humor, faith, generosity, and love will live on through every generation that follows him. His family will forever carry with them the example he set and the true meaning of family that he taught them all.
