Philomena Brunetti of Flushing, Queens, passed away peacefully at home on February 19, 2025. She was a beloved daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, godmother, niece, cousin, aunt, and friend, deeply devoted to her family and her dogs.
Philomena worked for decades in advertising at Newsday. Outside of work, she was incredibly creative, especially skilled in painting, and found joy in expressing herself through her artwork. She had a passion for classic films, thrilling mysteries, Steven King films, and timeless music–especially jazz, classical, Bob Dylan, and Luciano Pavarotti. She also loved the quiet beauty of snow and found joy in watching it fall.
Philomena will be remembered for the love she had for those closest to her, her humor, and the many ways she brought warmth to the lives of others. She was deeply loved by her family and friends, who treasured her presence and the time spent with her. Her absence leaves an immeasurable void, but the memories she created and the love she gave will remain forever in the hearts of those who knew her. She is survived by her sister, Paulina DeMartino; her brother, John DeMartino (Christine); her daughter, Jacqueline Buzzetti; her granddaughter, Natalie Buzzetti; her son-in-law, Albert Buzzetti; her cherished dog, Charlotte; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, godchildren, and her dear Aunt Connie. She is reunited in peace with her parents, Anne and Mario DeMartino; her grandparents, Paulina and Antonio Muscatelli and Filomena and Giovanni DeMartino; her Uncle Louie DeMartino, and her beloved dogs Major, Tootsie, Marley, Baci, and Katy.
A visitation for Philomena will be held Friday, February 21, 2025 from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Frederick Funeral Home, 192-15 Northern Boulevard, Flushing, NY 11358. A mass of christian burial will occur Saturday, February 22, 2025, 11:00 AM at St. Kevin's RC Church, 45-21 194th St, New York, NY 11358.
