My mother Bomparto was Phil's first cousin. We met Phil, Recca and the kids when they visited Maggie Soares in Sydney Australia.  They visited my home and had lunch and we all had a wonderful time getting to know each other. A year or so after the visit my mother who had a massive heart attack, was admitted to Nanavati Hospital in Mumbai. Phil was visiting Mumbai and had brought a very large Art Book for me from the States. Coincidentally, his neighbour knew him and somehow conversation about us and he gave the book to him to bring it to me at the hospital. That was Phil... generous, loving, caring. May his soul rest in eternal peace. A Mass has been offered for him here at my Parish. To his immediate and extended family my deepest condolences. Lots of Love and Hugs. Indira Fernandes

Phil Soares was Best man at my wedding (white jacket) to his older brother David. As we were walking up the aisle to the Altar he kept saying "Say No and marry me". I was 2 or 3 years older but that did not matter to him. He was always a joker. 
We had a lot of fun while we lived in the Gulf and he was on Das Island while we were in Bahrain. No women were allowed on Das Island but it wasn't far from Bahrain. So once a year the bachelors invited families. Dave, Des (a baby) and I flew over to spend the weekend there.
Phil, Recca and the kids visited me in Sydney and we had a great time partying, touring, eating and drinking but most of all laughing because Phil always made us crack up with his jokes and silly expressions.
I visited NYC quite often and my last trip was great because I was able to spend whole days with Phil while Joan went to work. I have never laughed as much. Phil and I were always close and enjoyed each other's company.
May his soul rest in  peace. I have already offered a Mass for him.
Maggie Soares

Phil was my brother-in-law, my sister’s husband. From the first time you met him, you wouldn’t have missed the broad smile and the always ringing laughter. In his demeanour forever young, it’s difficult to imagine him gone. But in addition to all he achieved against all odds, his three beautiful, lovable children and three adorable grand-children will always be his most enduring legacy to us who shared part of life with him. Rest In Peace Phil. May the love of us who knew you, envelope you in eternal bliss!    - John, Cheryl, Gabby, Peter and Tiffay
