Ping Sou Chang (nee Ng) was born on April 29, 1927 in Yin Ping county, Kwangtung province, China. Her husband is Alfonzo Chang. Her children are Chow Ling, Alejandro (“Alex”) and Soraya. Her daughters-in-law: Siu Mui (“Jenny”) and Siu Ching. Her son-in-law: Joseph Louis Cina. Her grandchildren: Carolina Forsyth (Kurt), Victoria Mishra (Michael), Alvin Chang, Steven Chang (Jenn), Sofia Cina and Jonathan Cina.
From China, Ping Sou moved to Kowloon, Hong Kong, where she worked as a seamstress before venturing to Panama, and eventually settling in Venezuela, which would be her home for 21 years. Ping Sou juggled raising three children, tending the family store, and being a homemaker.
In the early 80’s, Ping Sou and Alfonzo retired and in 1985 emigrated to the U.S., moving to Middle Village, Queens, in New York. In 2000, Ping Sou heard the Gospel and became a Christian. Soon after she was baptized and became a member of the First Baptist Church of Flushing. She was great with children, and excelled at cooking, sewing, knitting, and gardening. Best of all, Ping Sou loved her family deeply, always enjoying times with her husband, children and grandchildren. She will be sorely missed.
