Richard "Ricky" McLoughlin, 69, from Fresh Meadows, New York, passed away on April 6th, 2026, after bravely fighting cancer. Born on February 13, 1957, in Mineola, New York, Ricky enjoyed a rich life filled with the people and passions he cherished most.
Ricky was the type of person everyone wanted by their side. He was funny, loving, and always ready to lend a hand, making him the go-to person for many. Despite having a tough childhood, losing his mother at a young age, he emerged stronger. He was a determined individual, a caring husband, and an exceptional father and grandfather who was always there for his family, no matter the circumstances.
Self-taught in many areas, he had a wealth of knowledge in everything from construction and plumbing to electrical work, car repairs, and running an IT business, even sewing. He truly was a jack of all trades. He passed on so much wisdom to his daughter's Christina, Michelle and son-in-law Scott, often reminding them that they needed to learn these skills because he wouldn’t always be around. He will continue to watch over everyone, ensuring his tools are organized, and when working on projects, he’ll be in our ears reminding us to maintain a tidy workspace. When his wife Gisele would mention something she wanted to be made, there he would be in the garage, crafting everything from cat shelters to items that made life easier.
He had a deep love for the outdoors and created a beautiful oasis in his gazebo. You could often find him sitting on the patio with his wife Gisele when you arrived at their home or chatting with neighbors as they passed by. Everyone would stop to talk to him. He loved camping and ensured that the family had all the comforts of home, eventually upgrading to a camper. He took great pride in keeping everything in pristine condition. While he was at home, you could often see him engrossed in his sci-fi films, such as Star Trek, accompanied by his beloved pets: dog Jade and his cats Cotton, Monkey, Salem, Stripes, and Destiny.
Ricky cherished the moments he spent with his grandchildren, whether it was playing outdoors, going on vacations, or attending their school and sports events.
Ricky will be deeply missed and loved. We know he will be watching over all of us.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Dolores and Robert. He is survived by his wife, Gisele, his two daughters, Christina and Michelle along with her husband, Scott; his grandchildren, Larry, Anthony, and Jonathan; as well as many beloved family members, friends and pets.
A Celebration of Life is scheduled to take place this summer in the beautiful Oasis of Ricky's backyard. Date to be determined.
