

Rudolph “Rudy” Kolinger was a retired veteran of the United States Army, an entrepreneur and board director (Vice President) at Meadowlark Gardens Homeowners Inc in Fresh Meadows, New York. He passed away on Tuesday, December 14, 2021 at Northshore University Hospital in Manhasset due to heart failure. He was a cancer survivor.
Rudy was born on Christmas Day in 1945 in Westerholzhausen, Germany. He emigrated to the United States a few years later and lived most of his life in Bayside and Fresh Meadows, NY. He graduated from MS158 Marie Curie, and Jamaica High School. He also attended La Guardia Academy of Aeronautics pursuing an engineering degree. His ambition drove him to acquire engineering and fire management certificates from New York University. Rudy entered the US Army in 1964, rated as an ‘expert’ marksman, and was honorably discharged in 1970. After his service, he worked in air cargo management at JFK, a senior machinist at a family run aeronautical company, and as a supervisor for a Queens-based bus company. He opened garment (embroidery) and beauty (nails and hair) businesses during the last two decades.
He was an avid outdoor sportsman, as well as a boat and car enthusiast who built and repaired his own vehicles.
Rudy will be remembered as a loyal, dependable and endearing friend and neighbor.
A private funeral service will be held with close friends and family. A memorial to celebrate his life will be announced at a later date.
