Sheela Bheemarao

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Sheela Bheemarao, who left us peacefully on March 19, 2025. A devoted wife, mother and grandmother, Sheela touched the lives of everyone who knew her with her warmth and compassion. Sheela Bheemarao was born on May 23 1941 in Bangalore, India and raised there. Her parents were Dr. Narasimha and Vishala Murthy. She was the granddaughter of Late Sir M.N. Krishna Rao, Dewan of Mysore. Sheela graduated from Maharajas College and obtained a Master’s degree in psychology, After doing her masters she studied at the All India Institute of Mental Health and got a post masters diploma in clinical psychology. She worked as a psychologist for a few years in Vizag, Andhra Pradesh. She got married in 1968 to Shri Mirimira Bheemarao and migrated to New York City in 1969. While in NYC, she went to Hunter College in NYC and got a masters degree in social work. She worked for Catholic Charities in New York as a councilor and later joined the Board of Education in New York as a school psychologist. She wrote a number of articles on behavioral techniques that she was recognized for. She loved traveling and traveled extensively in the United States and abroad. While in NY, she used to travel with a group of friends in and around the greater metropolitan NYC area. She loved gardening and watching movies and serials. She loved the company of children and always expressed her love and affection for them. She took great pride in her family and always promoted the family's interest. She always stood for asserting one’s rights. She was extremely close to her siblings Dr. Lalitha (her trusted confidant) and her brother N.Swamy. She was a doting grandmother and loved to tell stories and play games with her grandchildren. She leaves behind her husband, two sons Arun and Kiran and their wives Madhavi and Deepa and three grandchildren Tejas, Neel and Jay.

A visitation for Sheela will be held Saturday, March 22, 2025 from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Frederick Funeral Home, 192-15 Northern Boulevard, Flushing, NY 11358.
