Stavroula "Stella" Mantekas

Beloved Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, Sister, Aunt, and Friend

March 20th, 1938 – April 3rd, 2025

With profound sadness and enduring love, we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved matriarch, Stavroula "Stella", on April 3rd, 2025 at the age of 87.

A woman of deep kindness, quiet strength, and immeasurable love, Stavroula, devoted her life to her family and to those blessed to know her. She was the cherished wife of the late Gregory Mantekas, with whom she shared a beautiful life and an enduring love until his passing in 2011. Their bond was a guiding light for the family and a testament to true partnership. She was the daughter of the late Vasilios and Georgia.

Stavroula was the heart of her family; a devoted and loving mother to her four children: John (Diane), Georgia, Vasilios (Denise), and Maria (Michael), and the proud grandmother of eight: Maria (Gregory), Yanna (Frank), Gregory (Eleftheria), Dana (Martin), Stella (Matthew), John, Lena, and Gregory. Her legacy lives on in her three treasured great-grandchildren: John, Leo, and Gia.

She had a heart that welcomed all, a soul that comforted without words, and hands that lovingly gave of themselves through every meal cooked, every hug shared, and every moment spent in presence with those she loved. Her warmth, sincerity, and gentleness were gifts she gave freely.

She was also a treasured sister, aunt, and dear friend to many; someone whose kindness left an imprint on all who had the joy of knowing her.

Though our hearts ache with her absence, we find comfort in knowing she is now reunited with her beloved Gregory, and that her spirit lives on in the love and light of her family.

A visitation for Stavroula will be held Monday, April 7, 2025 from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM and 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Frederick Funeral Home, 192-15 Northern Boulevard, Flushing, NY 11358. A funeral service will occur Tuesday, April 8, 2025, 11:30 AM at St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Shrine Church, 196-10 Northern Blvd, New York, NY 11358. A graveside service will follow at Flushing Cemetery.
