Zaida Lily Fernandez de Lozano, beloved mother to 3 children, 88 years of age, of Fresh Meadows, NY, passed away in Long Island, NY on November 18, 2025, leaving a void her family cannot fill.

She was born in Colquechaka, Bolivia on January 15, 1937 to Samuel and Blanca Fernandez. Daughter to a mining Engineer, her early childhood involved living in various mining towns throughout Bolivia. She eventually settled in La Paz where she went to high school. Recognizing her grace and beauty she was crowned queen of Bolivia’s annual Carnaval, a prestigious honor. There she met Juan, a military officer and her future husband. Alongside Juan, she emigrated to New York to begin a new life in the United States. She entered the workforce in a factory in Manhattan and quickly transitioned to administrative assistant roles in Citibank, CBS, Bulova and Allstate where she eventually retired.

Zaida was the loving wife of Juan Lozano who passed away in 2001 and is survived by 3 children: Dennis Fernandez, Patricia Aspinall and Edwin Lozano, her pride and joy. She has 10 grandchildren; Natalja, Diego, Juan, Naira, Huascar, Courtney, John, Andreas, Katrina and Christian. She has one great grandchild, Solome.

Zaida was a hardworking and proud woman who balanced working full time, raising two children and supporting her family in Bolivia. She regularly attended Catholic church and raised her children in the catholic faith.

She was always impeccably dressed and ran a tight ship. Her house was always spotless and she drove strict values into her children. She had a beautiful zest for life. She loved dressing up and going dancing, filling her home with the smells of her cooking and baking. And nothing delighted her more than visiting New York City—especially during the holidays—walking the streets, shopping and soaking in the energy of the city she adored. However, at the same time she was always extraordinarily kind and caring, donating various charities close to her heart. She baked and cooked wonderful meals for her family and was always fussing around her kids. All through her life and all the trials and tribulations, her main achievement was her children’s success.

She walked away from the comfort, stability, and prosperity of her life in Bolivia, a sacrifice that remains one of her greatest expressions of love, and one her children carry with them in gratitude for the rest of their lives.

Visitation services will be held at R. Stutzmann & Son, located at 224-39 Jamaica Ave, Queens Village, NY 11428, on November 20, 2025, from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm and from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm.

Nació en Colquechaka, Bolivia, el 15 de enero de 1937, hija de Samuel y Blanca Fernández. Hija de un ingeniero de minas, pasó su infancia viviendo en varios pueblos mineros de Bolivia. Finalmente se estableció en La Paz, donde cursó la secundaria. Su gracia y belleza la llevaron a ser coronada reina del Carnaval de Bolivia, un prestigioso honor. Allí conoció a Juan, un oficial militar y su futuro esposo. Junto a Juan, emigró a Nueva York para comenzar una nueva vida en Estados Unidos. Ingresó al mundo laboral en una fábrica de Manhattan y rápidamente pasó a ocupar puestos de asistente administrativa en Citibank, CBS, Bulova y Allstate, donde finalmente se jubiló.

Zaida fue la amada esposa de Juan Lozano, quien falleció en 2001. Le sobreviven sus tres hijos: Dennis Fernández, Patricia Aspinall y Edwin Lozano, su mayor orgullo y alegría. Tiene diez nietos: Natalja, Diego, Juan, Naira, Huáscar, Courtney, John, Andreas, Katrina y Christian. Tiene una bisnieta, Solome.

Zaida era una mujer trabajadora y orgullosa que compaginaba un trabajo a tiempo completo con la crianza de sus dos hijos y el sustento de su familia en Bolivia. Asistía regularmente a la iglesia católica y educó a sus hijos en la fe católica.

Siempre vestía impecablemente y era muy organizada. Su casa siempre estaba impecable e inculcó valores sólidos a sus hijos. Tenía una gran pasión por la vida. Le encantaba arreglarse e ir a bailar, llenando su hogar con los aromas de sus comidas y postres. Y nada la deleitaba más que visitar la ciudad de Nueva York, especialmente durante las fiestas, pasear por sus calles, ir de compras y disfrutar de la energía de la ciudad que adoraba. Sin embargo, al mismo tiempo, siempre fue extraordinariamente amable y cariñosa, donando a diversas organizaciones benéficas que le eran cercanas. Horneaba y cocinaba platos maravillosos para su familia y siempre estaba pendiente de sus hijos. A lo largo de su vida, a pesar de las dificultades, su mayor logro fue el éxito de sus hijos.

Renunció a la comodidad, la estabilidad y la prosperidad de su vida en Bolivia, un sacrificio que sigue siendo una de sus mayores expresiones de amor, y que sus hijos llevarán consigo con gratitud por el resto de sus vidas.

El velatorio tendrá lugar en la funeraria R. Stutzmann & Son, ubicada en 224-39 Jamaica Ave, Queens Village, NY 11428, el 20 de noviembre de 2025, de 15:00 a 17:00 y de 19:00 a 21:00.

La misa de funeral se celebrará en la Iglesia Católica Romana de los Mártires Americanos, ubicada en 79-43 Bell Blvd, Bayside, NY 11364, el 21 de noviembre de 2025, de 9:45 a 10:45.

El entierro tendrá lugar en el cementerio Mount St. Mary, 172-00 Booth Memorial Ave, Flushing, NY 11365, el 21 de noviembre de 2025, de 11:15 am a 11:45 am.
