Alicia was born June 7, 1936, in the province of Buenos Aires, Argentina, to Manuel and Zulema (Aguirre) Sal. As one of the youngest in a family of seven children, with 2 older brothers and 4 sisters, Alicia wanted to have a large family of her own. She met José Revutin at a dance in the early 1960s, and they were married in Bolivia in 1974. Alicia’s dream of being a mother came true with the birth of her son in 1976, and in 1978, the family of three moved to Forest Hills. Alicia was a beloved wife and devoted mother. She enjoyed traveling with her family to destinations such as Mar del Plata in Argentina and the Poconos and Adirondacks in the United States.
Alicia learned about baseball through her son, taking him on the subway to countless games at Yankee Stadium when he was a child. Thus, she became an enthusiastic and loyal fan of the New York Yankees, to the point that she complained bitterly about having to go to Citi Field (home to New York’s other baseball team) to receive her COVID vaccines. Growing up in Argentina, Alicia was a fan of the Argentine football (soccer) team River Plate. She spoke with reverence of Maradona and Argentina’s triumph in the 1986 World Cup. She was thrilled to see Argentina win the World Cup again last month.
Alicia is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Peter and Charity Revutin of Culpeper, VA, and three grandchildren, Skyler, Eleanor, and Maxwell Revutin of Culpeper, VA. Also surviving are two beloved sisters and many extended family members in Argentina.
In addition to her parents and several siblings, Alicia was predeceased by her husband of 45 years, José. She will be laid to rest on the Queens side of Cypress Hills Cemetery, Brooklyn, NY. Services will be private.
The family would like to thank the caregivers who tirelessly attended to Sra. Alicia over the last nine months so that she could live out her days in the comfort of her own home: Marleny, Amada, Eduviges, Maria, and Iris.
