Allen was born in the Bronx on July 24, 1933 to Isidore and Anna Goldstein.
In 1956 Allen married the love of his life, Pearl Kreitzer. They met as teenagers and spent over 65 glorious years together until her passing in 2021. He was a graduate of Fordham University’s School of Pharmacy. He owned pharmacies in Freeport, NY, Lefrak City, and Rockaway Beach. After he retired, Allen and Pearl traveled the world. He loved seeing new places and cultures. He was an active member of Congregation B’nai Israel in Freeport, NY as a minyanaire, Men’s Club president and twice serving as the congregation’s president. Allen was a big sports fan. He loved his NY Yankees and Knicks. He was also an animal lover. His golden retriever, Malka, meant the world to him.
Allen also loved his family and was very proud of them and their accomplishments. He wasn’t one to share his feelings directly, but bragged to others about his family.
He was mischievous. He got a kick out of sneaking up behind Pearl and startle her by kissing her on the neck. Allen was witty and had the best one liners. These one liners continued right up to his passing.
