Arlene Lloyd

Arlene was born to Paul and Harriet Strauss on March 27, 1945, in New York, NY. She spent her childhood growing up in the Bronx, just steps from Yankee Stadium, where her lifelong love of the New York Yankees began. She never stopped rooting for the home team.

Arlene dedicated her professional life in the same way she lived her personal life: by helping others believe in themselves. For 40 years, she devoted herself to teaching in the South Bronx, where she challenged and inspired her students through her wisdom, empathy, encouragement, compassion, and unwavering belief in their potential. She made her students feel seen, supported, and loved.

That same devotion extended to her family and friends. Arlene was the person everyone turned to for advice, honesty, and reassurance. She became known as everyone’s “Aunt Arlene” because of the love, laughter, kindness, and unwavering presence she brought to those around her.

Above all, family was always the most important thing to Arlene. She was a devoted wife, loving sister, and cherished aunt and grand-aunt who always showed up—with the loudest voice on every sideline, the biggest smile, and her whole heart. She was known for her quick wit, mischievous sense of humor, and endless phone calls and messages just to say, “I love you.” She found joy in her New York Yankees, especially Derek Jeter, and shared 15 wonderful years with her loyal companion Casey, who never left her side.

She is survived by her husband of 32 years, Harold; her sister, Carole; her nieces and nephews; grandnieces and grandnephews; and all those who were blessed to call her family. She was predeceased by her siblings, Susan and Billy. Her strength, selflessness, gigantic heart, and unforgettable sense of humor will always be remembered.

A Chapel Service will be held at Parkside Memorial Chapels, 114-03 Queens Blvd, Forest Hills, NY 11375, US, on July 17, 2026, from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm.

A Committal Service will be held at Mount Carmel Cemetery, 83-45 Cypress Hills St, New York, NY 11385, US, on July 17, 2026, from 1:15 pm to 2:15 pm.
