

Bachan “Boysie” Dhanraj was born September 28, 1944, to Dayah and Dhanraj Mahabir in Picton Estate, Trinidad. Boysie was the second born of 10 brothers and sisters: Winston, Paul, David, Joyce, Grace, Stephen, Noel, John (Johnny), Ivan (Ted). He lived in Trinidad until the age of 17 when he relocated to New York City as a missionary with his dad, Dhanraj Mahabir. During his time travelling as a missionary, Boysie met his beloved wife, Ruth, during a visit to Pastor Trueblood’s home. Soon after, Boysie and Ruth married, and have been married ever since.
Boysie began working in textiles having his start at Yolanda Monograms, Ideal Toys, and was eventually given the opportunity to advance as manager at Harris and Strauss. He remained in this position for approximately 10 years before the death of his boss Mr. Strauss, which prompted a career change from textile work to driving with Geraldo Limousine Service.
Boysie attended New York University – School of Continuing Education | The Real Estate Institution in May 1995 and acquired a Certificate for Fire Safety Director for High-Rise.
After his Security Guard training was completed, at the Allied Academy in July 2002, he then went on to work at Securitas Security Services, until 2007. He successfully completed the requirements to obtain his Certificate of Fitness from Diversified Security Fire Safety Solutions in March 2017. His 28-year career as Fire Safety Director was until this past October 2023, where he was employed at MG Securities LLC.
Boysie was a dedicated and hardworking man who was very devoted to his job. He was known for his astounding work ethic, desire to be an exemplary provider. He poured his energy into doing so. His favorite pastime was reading - whether it be the daily newspaper, or novels. He was a man of few words, but he was enriched with knowledge that he gained through reading and life experiences.
While at home, Boysie enjoyed spending downtime with his wife, Ruth, of 59 years. He loved watching movie classics and murder mysteries on television.
On December 12, 2023, Boysie peacefully departed this life at Jamaica Hospital Hospice, surrounded by his family.
He is survived by his spouse, Ruth Noelia, and his siblings, Paul, Joyce, Grace, Stephen, Noel, John, Ted. Their four children: Esther Grace, Jo Ann (husband Jens), Rose Marie, Jonathan Andrew: Seven Grandchildren: Demi (husband Isaac), Nicholas, Nina, Justin, Asa, Malachi, Jonah: Seven Great-Grandchildren: Noah, Nora, Noelle, Amarae, Aria, Nolan, and Ava.
And extended family and friends.
Boysie will be truly missed by all.
A visitation for Bachan will be held Friday, December 22, 2023 from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Forest Park Funeral Home, 114-03 Queens Blvd, Forest Hills, NY 11375. A funeral service will occur Saturday, December 23, 2023 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM, 114-03 Queens Blvd, Forest Hills, NY 11375. A committal service will occur Saturday, December 23, 2023 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Pinelawn Memorial Park, 2030 Wellwood Avenue, Farmingdale, NY 11735.
