Barry, I miss him so much. He was my cousin closest in age to me, and we shared much time when younger working in the family business, YOUGS, on the Lower East Side. Barry was a born entertainer who made everyone laugh and never had a bad word or complaint. My father Julius Young (Barry's uncle) was  a master of double talk and Barry knew all his shtick.  Good times.

My brother, Steve, just found out and told me today (February 20, 2021) that Barry died. Barry was the second youngest (of the second oldest brother of five, Isidore) of the 12 cousins. I'm the youngest and Steve the 3rd youngest (of the youngest brother, Julius).  
Barry was a wonderful, good hearted person. Always cheerful and hysterically funny. I spent a fair amount of time working side by side in our fathers' (and Uncle Benny's) store; and later on, seeing him in Uncle Jacob's store. 
Coincidentally, my mother's younger brother, Joseph Fox, lived in the same building as Barry's family.  In their later years, when Joseph's wife, my Aunt Phoebe, became frail, Barry became her GD-send and helped her on a daily basis. He became particularly dear to her after Uncle Joseph and their only child, my cousin Scott, died. 
I am very sad of Barry's passing and extend my condolences and best wishes to his brother Melvin and his lovely wife, and to his sister Shirley (who I believe is still around - but whom I haven't seen in decades). 
Steve and I would love to hear from our surviving relatives while some of us are still around.

I knew Barry as a good friend from Franklin K. Lane H.S.
I will miss him.
I just found out today11/1120), Veteran's Day, 
about Barry's passing. 
I'm grateful for having known Barry.
I loved his sense of humor and his cheerful disposition. I also appreciated hus Yiddish shtick.
Again, I'm sorry that we llost  Barry.
I'm especially sad that he passed away on my birthday-April 25th.

Kind hearted, incapable of hurting anyone or any thing, generous, hardworking of modest means, family historian, very funny, unique, tremendous memory, not ambitious, substitute teacher, actor, masters in speech therapy at NYU, great son, brother, uncle and grand uncle, once made a full scale Messerschmitt wing out of toothpicks in his bedroom, Army veteran, journalist, caretaker of his mother, Jewish, marketer of the Bagel label, (half of a bagel glued to each side of an record LP. Great godfather impersonater, did an impression of Brando on the waterfront “ I coulda been someone”, gentle. No desire to travel other than seeing the beautiful sights of Vietnam, with only slight but not bitter sarcasm, the pied piper of Bong Son, a lover not a fighter, maybe fired a rifle once in boot camp, was an army recruiter in Manhattan, made his apartment a museum of toys, not adventurous to the frustration of many, content. He was, well, Barry! I can’t say enough about him. He once ran after a customer to apologize to him. Why do people have to die? Became tired near the end, but cheering up the nurses made him happy. His kindness lives on! Goodbye uncle Barry! See you soon! He is a solid rock upon which we stand.
