Daniel Harkavy

It is with profound sadness and a heavy heart that we announce the death of Daniel Joseph Harkavy, on Friday, February 20, 2026, in Queens, NY following a long battle with kidney cancer. Daniel was caring, loving, quirky, and always had a positive attitude. He continually showed up for friends and family, and loved fiercely.

Daniel was born in Brooklyn, NY. He graduated top of his class from James Madison High School, and went on to earn his BS in Biochemistry from University of Rochester and his MA in Biochemistry at the University of Buffalo. He became a teacher first in Buffalo at numerous institutions, then spent 26 years teaching Science and Computer Science at Brooklyn Technical High School, where he was a beloved teacher.

Daniel is survived by his loving wife, Jody and their son, Ethan Harkavy, his brothers Steven Harkavy (Jodi), and Elliot Harkavy (Jessica Brodey), his sister-in-law Michelle Kamen, and his nieces and nephews Melissa, Brian, Micah and Maya Harkavy, Andrew Friedman, and Jason and Hunter Keene.

A funeral service will be held at Parkside Memorial Chapels, located at 114-03 Queens Blvd, Forest Hills, NY, 11375, on February 24, 2026, from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm. The service will be available via live stream.

The committal service will take place at Montefiore Cemetery, 121-83 Springfield Blvd, New York, NY, 11413, on February 24, 2026, from 1:00 pm to 1:45 pm.
