Don was born in Brooklyn in 1932 and passed away on November 13, 2025 with his family at his side. He was raised by his parents George and Helen, along with his twin brother and partner in crime, Richard and his younger sister Judie.
Don joined the Air Force in 1952 and was stationed at RAF Burtonwood in England as a Weather Observer and a basketball player.
In 1956, after his honorable discharge, he met Helene, his lifelong love and best friend. They married in 1959 in Brooklyn and enjoyed their life overlooking the ocean.
Don was a teacher and retired as soon as he possibly could, the day he turned 55. He spent the next 38 years travelling the world, teaching and playing bridge, going to the theater, attending Kingsborough Community College (although he already had his masters degree) and most importantly, spending time with his family, watching his grandsons grow up.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Helene, twin brother Richard, sister Judie, daughter Kim (Bruce) and his grandchildren, Scott (Maddie), and Jason (Laura).
A graveside service will be held on Sunday, November 16, 2025. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Don’s memory may be made to Alzheimer's Association, www.alz.org.
