Donald Pasinkoff

July 30, 1933 – November 10, 2023

Don Pasinkoff passed away on November 10, 2023, at Flushing House, while in the company of his son, friends and the aides that cared for him. He was 90 years old and lived a long and interesting life. He taught English for over thirty years, and remained intensely committed to reading, study and literature well after his retirement. In addition to Don’s passion for literature, he was an avid connoisseur of classical music and opera. He religiously tuned in to WQXR, New York’s Classical Musical Station, until the day of his passing.

Don was comfortable and well cared for at Flushing House, although he deeply missed the Forest Hills South community that he called home for the last twenty years. The community was a vital source of Don’s physical and emotional wellbeing, and his son is grateful for all the support and friendship that so many neighbors gave to him.

A celebration of life will be held in Don’s honor on November 19, 2023, at 3pm at Sinai Chapels at 114-03 Queens Blvd, Queens, NY 11375.

In lieu of gifts of food, please consider making a donation to the Queens Public Library in Don’s memory. The library provides free “Mail-a Book” services to individuals who are homebound, a service that allowed Don to continue to pursue his love of reading until shortly before his passing.
