We are saddened to announce the passing of Eileen Haynes affectionately known as Cleopatra or Cleo. Eileen was born on November 24, 1947 in Georgetown, Guyana, South America to the late Adolphus and Sarah Leticia Haynes. She transitioned from this life on December 31, 2019 in New York City, United States of America. She was 72 years old. Eileen is survived by her daughters Petal Walker and Angela Haynes Burgess. She was the mother-in-law of Michael Walker and the grandmother of Daniel and Michaela Walker. She was the sister of Evadne Slowe, Patricia Myers, Hymann Rudolph (Victor) Haynes, and the late Ermilinda Newton, Compton Haynes and Murphy Agwu. She was the sister-in-law of Celestine Haynes and Dorsil Haynes, and the late Eugene Newton, Wilfred Slowe and Godwin Agwu. Eileen was the aunt of Charis (Bridget) Newton-Thompson, Hazel Newton-Azore, Carol Newton, John (John P.) Newton, and Murphy (Bonny) Henry, and the late Barbara Okpei and Aggrey Newton; Wendy, Winfrey (Alli) and Markie; Coco, Carol, Wesley, Hayla, Andrew, Peggy, Kwame, Tchaiko and Kwasi; Abraham, Bennett, David and Michael; Gem; and Kelvin, Sherron, Carol and Colin. She was the aunt-in-law, great aunt, and great-great aunt of many. Eileen was the cousin of the Benjamins, Bournes, Greenes, Harpers, Haynes, Maxwells, Simons and many others. The viewing for the late Eileen Haynes will take place on Sunday, January 5, 2020 at 2:00 pm at Forest Park Funeral Home, 114-03 Queens Boulevard, Forest Hills, NY, 11371. Funeral services will follow at 4:00 pm. Eileen Haynes will be interred at Pinelawn Memorial Park, 2030 Wellwood Avenue, Farmingdale, NY, 11735 at 10:00 am on Monday, January 6, 2020. We love you our sweet mumma, mommy, nana, sister, aunty, cousin and friend. You inspired us to reach for our dreams, applauded us when we succeeded, and comforted us when we struggled. You brought life, and light and joy to our lives, and you will be dearly missed.
