Estelle J. Reiff left this world to dance the Mambo and be with her beloved Benjamin on Tuesday at the age of 101 years old. She was born in Nashville and lived the last 76 years in New York City. Beloved sister, wife, mother, aunt, grandma, and friend to all who knew her. She loved to dance and play tennis, and she loved to reply when asked how are you doing: “I’m doing everybody!” She was a women’s rights activist and an early supporter of Trans rights in honor of her dance partner in the 1960s: Mark/Mary. She was on the advisory committee for the Peter Della Monica Senior Center where she basically lived every day for over 20 years and was a volunteer Senior Adjudicator for dance competitions for NYC Dept of the Aged. She loved and supported her son and his work for LGBTQ+ rights and was very proud of her daughter’s volunteerism for Cerebral Palsy of Nassau. Her nieces, nephews, granddaughter, and great nieces and nephews brought her great joy throughout her life. She passed peacefully with her children nearby surrounded with love: the way in which she lived her life. Dance on Momma!
